2018 NYAC VIM Mozambique: On The Ground and Getting Ready!

Our NYAC Volunteers in Mission team has arrived in Mozambique, and is already providing exciting updates. See the joyful welcoming photos and videos below.

Rev. Pastor Alex Souto writes:

Beloved siblings in Christ,
After traveling for about 24hrs we finally landed in Beira, Mozambique, a costal city with lots of palm trees swaying with a gentle Indian Ocean breeze.

We were welcomed by drummers on the tarmac, and joyous church sisters singing as soon as we walked outside the airport.  They sang welcome songs in English, Portuguese, and Xitswa (one of 43 indigenous languages of Mozambique).

There’a lot of construction happening on the way from the airport to the guest house were our VIM team is staying.  The guest house is on one of the main roads and were warmly received with delicious rice and beans.  The loving greetings, language of the heart and delicious food reminded me of my visits with family in Brazil.

Our team met up with Pastor Eurico after our scrumptious lunch to go over the schedule for the week, and we can’t wait to get going.

More news in the days to come.

Thanks be to God from bringing us all the way here, and deep gratitude for the prayers and support of our church families back in NYAC!
